WHO WE ARE
Our Roots
Greater London RDA is one of the smallest and most competitive regions in the UK. There are a variety of groups from very small up to large, purpose built centres. There are two carriage driving groups along with endurance, show jumping and vaulting being on offer in just a few.
Greater London has two regional physiotherapy representatives providing hippo-therapy sessions and advice to groups.
The Regional Event is a highlight of the year, moving around the large centres who host as riders hope to qualify for the national championships held at Hartpury College in Dressage, show jumping and country side challenge competitions.
Greater London is a friendly, busy and proactive region within RDA UK.
Riding For the Disabled (RDA) is a UK based non-profit charity providing horse riding and carriage driving to those with learning disabilities and physical disabilities. In the Greater London Region RDA riders can take part in a variety of activities from dressage, jumping, vaulting, endurance and carriage driving.
Greater London RDA also has great links for those wanting to progress further in competition, making the to transition from RDA competitions to Para dressage and show jumping competitions. We are a very friendly region wanting what's best for both horses and riders with an excellent approach in doing so. With a range of groups and styles there is something for everyone.
Participants work toward RDA Proficiency Tests. Achieving these goals gives the participants a great sense of accomplishment.Research shows that after one term (12 weeks) the majority of our riders are stronger, fitter, more relaxed when relating to ponies and people and very happy to ride. Because our riders have succeeded at something many others cannot do, the sense of pleasure and pride in their achievement often leads them to aspire to do more in other areas of their life. Schools who send children to ride with RDA groups, tell us that children have a number of significantly improved outcomes, including greater focus, self-confidence and raised self-esteem after riding therapy sessions.
